For the 3rd year in a row, Azadea Foundation celebrated Earth Day with its pioneer inter-school competition; the Envirothon. Organized under the patronage of the Lebanese Ministry of Education and in collaboration with The Little Engineer, the initiative aims to spread environmental education and change the long term social behavior of children. Using technology to find environmental solutions was this edition’s theme teaching over 200 children from public and private schools how to produce renewable energy. Under the sun at the René Mouawad, Sanayeh Garden, the 10 - 12 years old students produced solar cars, solar ovens, dynamos, and wind mills. They then presented them to a panel of judges including the former Minister of Telecommunications, Nicholas Sehnaoui, the managing editor of Arabnet Website, Rita Makhoul, Founder of Mums In Beirut Blog, Dina Maktabi and a representative of the Ministry of Education.
